Methyl Ester Rapeseed Oil
Methyl ester rapeseed oil, commonly known as Rapeseed Methyl Ester (RME), is a biodiesel produced by the chemical conversion of rapeseed oil using methanol. It consists of a mixture of saturated and unsaturated C16 to C22 fatty acids. RME is a clear, thin, combustible liquid that is not soluble in water and emits a faint odor. It's used as a substitute for diesel fuel and also finds applications as a solvent in specialized industries, such as adhesives and foundries. Additionally, RME is more suitable for cold climates and is increasingly favored by blenders to satisfy mandates for waste-based biofuel.
