Chinese Gum Turpentine, also known simply as Chinese turpentine or gum turpentine, is a natural resin obtained from certain species of pine trees native to China, particularly Pinus massoniana (Masson's pine) and Pinus yunnanensis (Yunnan pine).

Similar to gum rosin, Chinese gum turpentine is produced by tapping the trees. It involves making small incisions in the bark to allow the resin to flow out. This resin is then collected and processed to extract the volatile oil known as turpentine. Chinese gum turpentine has been traditionally used in various industries such as paints, varnishes, and as a solvent in cleaning products.

Turpentine derived from different species of pine trees may vary slightly in composition and properties, but they are generally used for similar purposes. Chinese gum turpentine, specifically, may have characteristics distinct from turpentine produced from other regions or species of pine trees.
