Brazilian gum turpentine
Brazilian Gum Turpentine, also known simply as Brazilian turpentine or gum turpentine, is a natural resin obtained from certain species of pine trees native to Brazil, particularly Pinus elliottii (slash pine) and Pinus caribaea (Caribbean pine), among others.
Similar to other types of turpentine, Brazilian gum turpentine is produced by tapping the trees. This process involves making small incisions in the bark to allow the resin to flow out. The resin is then collected and processed to extract the volatile oil known as turpentine.
Brazilian gum turpentine shares many of the same properties and applications as turpentine derived from other regions or species of pine trees. It is commonly used as a solvent in various industries such as paints, varnishes, and cleaning products. The specific composition and characteristics of Brazilian gum turpentine may vary slightly depending on the species of pine tree and the region where it is harvested.
